My parents have been given 35 days to pack everything up to leave behind our home of nearly 10 years with no fault of our own- it seems that the Australian immigration system is completely robotic and cruel. Watching them go through this hurts me, especially when there's only much that I can do.

My parents have done everything they can to fulfill the requirements but things beyond their control have led us to this point where they're being forced to leave. Leaving behind the country I moved to when I was a 12-year-old or living by myself in a country that forced my parents to leave and broke our family apart, feels like a never-ending dead end destroying what we've built keeping me up at night.

We love our community, and our life in the only country we've known and called home for the last decade, and having to start from scratch is something we cannot imagine.

Our only hope is to get the government's attention and allow us to stay back and find a permanent solution. Please send an email to the immigration minister.

Dear Minister,

I am writing to support the Singh and Kaur family's urgent request for a permanent residency solution. Recently, the family received a temporary six-month visitor visa. While this allows Ms Kaur to travel overseas to care for her ill mother and Jaswinder Singh to return to Australia, this is only a short-term solution to a much longer struggle.

The family has endured 10 years of hardship, including exploitation by a department-approved sponsor who was later sanctioned by the Australian Border Force. This temporary visa does not address the exploitation or the financial loss they suffered, nor does it provide a permanent resolution to their situation. They are deeply grateful for the Minister's attention, but returning to square one after six months is not a just outcome.

Key concerns:

Parent Visa Option: The family’s application for Ministerial intervention was never about just obtaining a parent visa. It was meant to address the unjust exploitation they faced and secure a permanent solution.

Work Visa Option: After 10 years of dedicated work in Australia, the issue is not about more work opportunities but about ensuring the family is no longer vulnerable to exploitation. Additionally, at their age, with constantly changing immigration rules, they may never gain the certainty of permanent residency.

The Singh and Kaur family are even willing to surrender their visitor visa and await a fair decision at Broadmeadows detention center. They came to Australia with hopes of building a life and have worked hard in this country. It is only fair that their contributions be recognized with permanent residency.

I urge you to provide a compassionate and permanent solution that reflects the 10 years they have dedicated to this country.
